We’re just a bunch of regular people. We like to get fit, have fun, challenge ourselves, spend time with our families, spend time with friends, meet new people, learn new things. It’s not always just about roller derby, it’s about being part of a team, being part of a group. The biggest group we can be involved with is our community! S2D2 are regularly involved in a variety of community events. The league often lends hands for support or helps raise awareness and funds when ever possible.

BLOOD DONATION TEAM
We’ve got a great bunch of people who regularly give blood as a group. It’s nice to have someone to remind you that it’s that time of year again and also hold a hand. We’re also pretty competitive – so we like to see who can give the most. Why not? It’s for a good cause!

SYDNEY TO THE GONG
Some of the S2D2 crew, friends and family have formed a cycle club in preparation for the Sydney to the Gong 90kms bike ride. They work on our fitness and strength as well as making plans to ride as a team. We made the full ride 90kms ride in 2013 and 2014, it’s an amazing effort. We also raised $3,880 in 2013 and over $4,200 in 2014 for MS Australia!

Some of the Dolls ran the 14km City2Surf in their S2D2 uniforms in 2013 (the day after winning the 5×5 Grand Finals!) It’s an incredible feat of fitness and strength. Here is Psychlone Cilla & Britney SpearTackle who are both all smiles at the finish line!

In 2012 S2D2 and their dogs took on the Million Paws Walk raising money for the RSPCA. We we’re in the top 10 fundraising groups for the event and proudly raised $1,500 for this cause. In 2013 we went on to raise $1,700, thank you to our generous friends, family and workmates for supporting us!

THE COLOUR RUN
The Colour Run is fun! We raised over $500 for Heart Kids by taking part in the 5km fun run. The team still made it to the regular Sunday train session after the run!

WARRIOR DASH 2012 & 2013
Under the mud these strong women are poudly wearing their league tshirts at the Warrior Dash – the world’s largest obstacle race series. The event is a series of obstacles that require great physical and mental strength and agility. It’s not for the faint hearted, as you can tell by the smiles on their faces, the challenge and joy of teamwork (and a beer at the end) is a great reward!

LENDING A HAND WITH ROTARY
You many not recognise some of The Dolls here! This was at the 2013 Hurstville Rotary Antiques Fair. S2D2 lent a hand to support Rotary who does a lot of great work in the community. We helped out at the event in 2012 and we’ll certainly be there in 2014. It’s a lot of fun, we meet some great people (and we get to brows the goodies on sale!)

LOCAL YOUTH EVENTS
You don’t have to ask us twice to come to a skate park! S2D2 joined with the St George Youth Action Group to showcase roller derby at a drug & alcohol free youth event held at Rockdale.
