Round 2 of the 5×5 Championship held at Windsor, home of Hawkesbury/ Hills Area Roller Derby.

The first bout of the evening from Round 2 saw Blue Mountains continued their first round dominance into Round 2 with a strong win over Inner West in their first bout of the year; 206 – 119.

In the second bout of the evening, home team Hawkesbury/Hills fought valiantly against a surging Central Coast in a big hitting bout full of points for both teams with CCRG taking it out 282-137.

The first round for the 5×5 Roller Derby Championship is complete. Held at Niagra Park, home of the Central Coast Roller Girls.

Lots of points from the two bouts as all teams in play were looking to get off to a good start in the championship, but Blue Mountains and Central Coast were both able to draw first blood in big wins.

Blue Mountains def. Hawkesbury/Hills 392- 76.

Central Coast def. South Side 207 – 125.

After a big win against Hawkesbury in October, the girls of South Side’s The Force travelled to the Central Coast to take on Central Coast Roller Girls Valkyries on Saturday 17th November.

At Bout of the Living Dead on Saturday October 27, the South Side Derby Dolls travel team “The Force” traveled to Windsor NSW to take on Hawkesbury/Hills Area Roller Derby‘s CamoKazi’s in the first bout between these two evenly matched teams.

The curtain raiser for the night saw the first full length Men’s derby bout to be held in NSW. Bringing together skaters from 10 different leagues from all around Australia,the bout featured  S2D2’s own Quadfather and Dred Flanders for the Incredible Hulks. The Hulks lost in a close, action packed, fast paced slug fest to The Dark Knights 160-180.

In the main event bout S2D2’s The Force had to fight for every point with HARD’s physically intimidating pack pushing the girls from the South Side to dig deep in order to pull out the win.

Ann O’war topped all scorers with 104 points for the night with KillaBee chipping in 62 and Strawb’ry Slaughtercake adding 44 to the tally.  Dobie Wan Kenobi lead her team with 60 for the night.

MVP honours (as voted by opposing players) for the night were HARD’s Lola Ebola and S2D2’s KillaBee.

S2D2 will use the confidence gained from the strong win as momentum heading into their upcoming clash with Central Coast Roller Girls on 17th November.

With the Eastern Region Roller Derby tournament in full swing, the intensity levels of the bouts kept increasing with each bout. The next bout between South Side Derby Dolls (S2D2) the Force and Central Coast Roller Girls’ (CCRG) The Valkyries proved to be one of the best bouts of the tournament. Both sides needed a win to keep their tournament alive after losing their opening round bouts. With the stakes high and the teams evenly balanced it was all set up for a cracking bout.
