As the 5×5 championship 2013 came to a climactic close at the Grand Final last year in August, it was clear that although the dolls and droids were heading into our yearly break over Christmas and New Year celebrations, this year, there was NOT going to be an offseason. 5×5 2013 proved that the vastly rising roller derby community within the Sydney metropolitan and surrounding areas was growing a network of strong, hard hitting and athletic women who were in it to win it. It was obvious from the high levels of sportsmanship and athleticism shown consistently throughout 2013 that in 2014 the 5×5 championship was going to be bigger, stronger, and faster and will bring in more crowds of new and loyal fans of the sport than any event held before. Aug 2013 15

On August 10 The Force took on undefeated CCRG’s The Valkyries at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Center in the Grand Finals of the 5×5 Roller Derby Championship. The Force came out strong and took a lead that was unable to be matched by The Valkyries.




Jul 2013 20

S2D2 played BMRDL’s Free Sisters on their home track. It was the final round of the tournament on July 13. Both teams needed to secure a win to be playing for a chance at first and second place in the Grand Final. It was a cloase, hard (and fun) game with The Force taking out the win at the final whistle.

S2D2 played HARD on June 15 at Hurstville Stadium. It was the very first home game for the for The Force.

Round 3 of 5×5 took place on Saturday 18th of May at Sydney Boys High as Inner West played host to a season changing double header.

Bout 1 – Central Coast vs Blue Mountains

The first bout of the had punters salivating at the prospect of two undefeated, top of the table teams Central Coast and Blue Mountains going head to head to see who would remain at the top of the heap and solidify their spot for the Grand Final in August.  With both teams racking up huge scores in the opening two rounds of play, Round 3 was sure to be a scoring bonanza with both teams stacked with potent attack in the form of fast, point producing machines in both teams jammer rotations.
